Location & Lodging

Where Your Intensive Takes Place

EMDR Intensives take place on an 76-acre semi-wooded property along the North Fork of the Holston River. The land is quiet, private, and naturally supportive of deep work. Most clients find that the environment itself helps them settle, orient, and stay connected to the process. It can even find its way into the work.

The setting is intentionally simple and comfortable, designed to give you space to rest, reflect, and integrate. Walking paths along the river and property are maintained to allow access to the natural beauty.

The Cottage

Clients stay in a private, standalone cottage arranged specifically for the intensive.
The cottage includes:

  • Full kitchen

  • Queen bedroom

  • Living room with a 50” TV

  • Private bathroom with shower and heated floor

  • Washer and Dryer

  • A dedicated session room

  • A porch with outdoor seating

  • WiFi

Most sessions take place in a dedicated office room inside the cottage. Depending on weather, individual needs, and daily pacing, some elements of the work may occur outdoors.

Lodging is arranged and booked on behalf of each Client, but provided by a separate company.
Fees for lodging are included in the pricing for the Intensive.

Meals & Groceries

Clients are responsible for their own meals, though we are happy to provide suggestions and support. Options include:

  • we provide a mix of simple breakfast foods and coffee in the cottage

  • pre-made meals from a local meal prep company specializing in healthy and gluten-free options (discount code made available upon booking an Intensive)

  • grocery order and pickup (we can arrange pick up for you)

  • meal prep on your own in the cottage

  • local restaurants for dine-in or takeout

Arriving & Departing

Clients check-in the afternoon or evening before the first day of their Intensive. We suggest you consider booking an additional night before/after your first/final day to allow time for adjusting to jet lag, as well as grounding and ease of transition.

Early arrival or extended stay is subject to cottage availability and billed separately.

Airport & Transportation

The nearest airport is Tri-Cities Airport (TRI), approximately a 50 minute drive from the Intensive location.

The Intensive location is rural, and public transportation is not available. We suggest clients rent a car for travel to and from the airport, and any excursions during their stay. If car rental is not a good option for you, alternative arrangements may be made.

The Property

When the weather allows, you’ll have the opportunity to walk the miles of paths or spend a few moments near the river. All outdoor time is optional and based on your energy and needs. We also provide wood and a fire pit for an evening fire.

Wildlife is abundant. The property regularly hosts white-tailed deer, river otter, eagles, osprey, and birds of all kinds, as well as many river turtles.

The natural environment is quiet, unhurried, and conducive to regulation.

Packing Recommendations

This is not a complete list, but we suggest you consider the following:

  • comfortable clothing for movement and rest

  • layers (temperatures vary throughout the day)

  • walking shoes that can get damp (the dew can be heavy in the mornings on our paths)

  • any preferred snacks or comfort foods

  • journal

  • personal care items

  • any grounding objects that feel supportive

Most clients find that less is more. The space is designed to help you slow down and focus inward.
